About Me

As a 10-year professional in the GRC industry, I have experience in both first and second line of defense positions within the risk management industry.

What does this mean, without jargon? I’ve done the following tasks (non-exhaustive list!):

-I’ve performed oversight risk assessments surrounding the control environment of business areas, processes and programs. Similar to an audit, I’ve independently documented best practices, concerns, issues and critical threats to businesses. After sharing these results with executives and SMEs alike, I published the reporting and then partnered with business areas to help solve them. Being present for business areas in both the discovery and solution of issues is one of my specialities.

-I’ve built governance programs from scratch. Starting at literally ground zero, I’ve been able to see a program go from a slide deck to implemented. It’s not easy, but with persistence, guiding principles, proper socialization and training, you can truly create something from nothing. Anchoring myself in best practices and what’s worked before, whether at your organization or within the industry, in alignment with my set of skills will get your governance program from a dream to reality.

-I’ve optimized. Whether a process, control design/implementation or governance program, I’ve listened to the concerns, looked at the data underlying the current efficiency, and built a plan to get resources working at an optimal level. We can use this skill to help you build the right-sized-for-you GRC program, enhance your vendor oversight process, document something for regulatory requirements, automate your control evidence collection for audits, and more. Whatever your issue is, let’s solve it!

My competencies include: NIST, SOC1&2, PCI-DSS, IT General Controls (ITGCs) and Business Application Controls (BACs), non-financial risk assessment, analysis, treatment and reporting, control design and operations testing.

When I’m not working on GRC issues plaguing the industry, you can catch me doing one of the following things (also non-exhaustive!):

-Testing a new recipe from one of my many cookbooks/online saved recipes. I’m an avid baker and love taking notes in the margins of recipes so I have a go-to when friends and family ask. Don’t even ask me how messy my kitchen gets during holiday baking season!

-Hitting the pickleball courts! I played tennis growing up, and pickleball reminds me of those times on the courts, while allowing for my aging body to keep up with the young kids.

-Watching the newest movie release at the theaters (matinee movies are the best-not even a competition!) or tv releases on TV near you. Also an avid lover of musical theater and Broadway. Just don’t ask me to sing my favorites.

-Reading the newest release or backlist from my way-too-endless shelves. I’m pro-audiobook (hello multitasking!) and always have a suggestion if you tell me what you’re into when it comes to books.

-Traveling the US and World! Blessed with many long distance BFFs, I’m always charting my next flight, trip, or itinerary. My favorite trips have been Paris and a summer trip to Canada, followed closely by visits to Arcadia National Park and annual trips to the SW Florida Coast.
